Implant Restorations

Dental implants can be a gamechanger if you are missing one or more of your teeth. They’re a modern dental treatment that mimics how a natural tooth looks and functions. Many patients have been able to reclaim a beautiful, full smile with dental implants!

The Implant vs. the Restoration

Dental implants are made up of two main parts: the actual implant and the restoration. The implant looks a little bit like a screw and stands in as an artificial tooth root. It’s placed into your jawbone so that it stimulates the bone like a normal tooth root would while also providing a secure foundation for the restoration.

The restoration is the part that goes on top of the implant and is often a dental crown. This is designed to match the appearance of your surrounding natural teeth so it blends in seamlessly with the rest of your smile.

Taking Care of a Dental Implant

One of the neat things about dental implants is that they don’t require a lot of extra work to maintain. You can treat them like you would your other teeth when it comes to oral hygiene! That means daily brushing and flossing as well as regular trips to the dentist for routine checkups. We also recommend consuming a balanced diet and avoiding tobacco products.

Replacing the Restoration

While the implant and restoration are both made to be durable and long-lasting, sometimes accidents can happen, leaving a crack in the dental crown. If that happens to you, it’s possible to replace the restoration part of the dental implant. We offer these repairs, as well as a variety of other dental services, at our office in Olathe!
